All it takes is one good song. And some cowboy boots.

Last year I attended my first barn dance - and it was such fun.  Ever since that time, we've been looking forward to this year's party.  For weeks, Martin and Sophie planned out their outfits.  Martin's hinged on which shirt would be the coolest with his cowboy boots, Sophie vacillating between wearing a dress or something that would be better suited for climbing on hay bales (outcome: rock n' roll shirt for Martin, Harley shirt and jeans for Sophie).

Not as full as last year's soiree, this year was just as festive.  Here are Marty and Martin signing the guest book upon arrival, looking so handsome in their cowboy boots.

Here is our hostess Tammy.  You can't see it, but we're wearing our matching cowgirl belts.

I didn't end up with very many good pictures of the night.  The lighting was dim, which is perfect for dancing, but not as great for photos.  Also, I spent the entire night with Sophie on one hip, chasing Martin around the barn as he did his best to exercise his independence.  One time I found him digging in a giant bin filled with pop, fishing for a root beer.  The next time, Marty found him lingering near the keg.  Later, I saw him with a plate at the buffet opening up pans of bars.  And mostly, he wanted me to take him for a spin around the dance floor, his feet moving like a river dancer to the rhythm of the polka band.   At least until he's too distracted by the other dancers to keep moving his feet.

And that moment when Martin's feet start flying around (and I think I can hear you laughing) is GREAT!
