Getting to know you
This week at Sophie's preschool we were given a questionnaire to complete with our kids. The idea behind this is to have an activity where you sit down together, complete a series of tasks, and have a snapshot of what your child is like at this time. Sophie and I started first, sitting at the kitchen table and conducting ourselves with the seriousness of a job interview.

Something that makes me feel special is: Momma
Something that makes me happy is: Momma
Lessons learned: I don't think that Sophie can be bothered with things like age, or being able to describe herself. I think that it's possible that she's been listening to a LOT of Loretta Lynn with all this talk about babies and momma and more babies. And she loves me, a whole lot. And the feeling is very mutual.
When we were through, Sophie took the piece of paper and grabbed my pen, took on a look of all business and started her own series of questions. For me, this was the best part of our whole exercise. Her questions were AWESOME.
What is your name?
What do you like to play?
Do you like to play babies?
Where do you like to play with poodles?
What do you want to be for Halloween?
What is this a picture of?*
*Note: I got this one wrong! So, if Sophie asks you this question, the proper answer is "A sock and hot toast"
When Martin and I sat down to do the same questionnaire, he could hardly be bothered with me. Each answer was met with an eye roll and a look that is the international expression for "duh".

The people I like to play with are: My friend Jordan
My favorite book is: Power Rangers

Something that makes me feel special is: Worms
Something that makes me happy is: Worm Power Rangers
Lessons learned: It's really hard to tell where Martin's interests lie, isn't it? Also, do all kids think their eyes are white, or is this just something I've neglected to spell out for my kids?
When we were finished, Martin also wanted to interview me. He asked me my name, what I liked to play, and who I liked to play with. Interestingly, I got all the answers wrong. He's a tough critic, that one.

This was great, I really laughed at the eye color answer and the blonde hair for Sophie. I guess Sophie wasn't concerned that the tuna was made from Mermaids!
