We spent this weekend at mom and dad's, sitting around and starting at cute baby Miles.  He is such a good baby, relaxed, likes to be held, good natured, and cried like one time.  He sleeps and eats and hangs out.  He fits into our family perfectly.

I stayed up until midnight on Friday, waiting for him to arrive.  I tried not to pounce on him when he was carried in, waiting about 35 seconds before I held him.  He snuggled right in, and wondered who I was.  Or maybe he was thinking that the least I could have done was brush my hair.


We got up the next morning and resumed our position holding Miles.  Martin and Sophie held him a little bit, covered him up with blankets, held his hands, rubbed his head, looked at his feet.


Here I am doing what I do with all babies - say "hi" over and over again.  "Hi Miles.  Hi there.  Hi.  It's your Aunt Jennie."


Here's a close up of his little face, kind of smooshed up here because he's napping so nicely, all tucked into Grandma Jane's arms.


Here he is again in Grandma Jane's arms, this time awake and smiling a little bit.


Once again, hanging out with Grandma Jane, this time with Sophie acting as assistant.  Also worth noting, she let me put little pony tails in her hair and they stayed there for about half an hour.  It's record breaking.


Grandma Mitchell came over to meet her fifth great-grandbaby.


Martin and Sophie picked out this toy for Miles and spent some time overwhelming his baby senses with visual and auditory stimulation - with the toy and their presence.


I asked Ryan to please consider moving back to MN.  He said he would, but it would make it awfully hard for him to walk to work.  Bummer.
