Coal Miner's Daughter meets the Antique Dealer's Daughter

I love the movie Coal Miner's Daughter.  I love it so much that my brother Ryan used to call me up to let me know when it was on tv, which happens a lot more often than you might think (the tv programming part, I mean... not the phone calls from my brother).  I get a little caught up in Loretta's life when I watch it.  I start calling everyone "Doo", I imagine that I can make myself pretty dresses out of old curtains for the album covers I might have, and think about what it would be like to hang out with Patsy Cline.  I love, love, love her.  I also love Sissy Spacek as her.  Both of them.  I just love them.

For the past few days I've been scanning in old photos from a giant box I received from my father-in-law and unearthed a TREASURE.

Marty's Grandma Harriette ON STAGE with LORETTA LYNN.  There they both are at the family company's 25th anniversary open house, Harriette in her cute little yellow shoes handing Loretta in all of her purple sequined splendor a bouquet of flowers.  How lucky can you get?  By all accounts, Harriette ate it up - being with Loretta and all.  I'm certain if it had been me, I would have been unable to speak.  And if I did, it would have been something dumb about how wasn't this town just a little bit like Butcher Holler or did she have any moonshine on her fancy bus?

Good thing for me my sighting was limited to finding this photo in the cardboard box.

P.S.  I looked up Loretta on Wikipedia today and oh my gosh, did you know that Crystal Gayle is her youngest sister?  I can't even believe it.

P.P.S.  This is even better.  As I was typing up my shocking Crystal Gayle fact I told Marty about my discovery.  He asked "Does it say anything on there about Lala Lynn, her granddaughter?"

"Uh, why do you ask?" I responded, whipping around in my chair, waiting for some kind of true confession after five years of marriage.

"Well, uh, I mean everybody was, you know, trying to see the tour bus."

"And?" I asked.

"Well, she signed the back of my paycheck.  In fact, I think I still have it."  And into the filing cabinet he went.  He pulled out a folder titled "Marty Personal" that I didn't even know existed (which of course I will examine later).  Tucked between some currency from Japan and the fax we received from Grandma Harriette when we were on our honeymoon was Marty's paycheck from 10 years ago.  NOW LAMINATED, and signed by Tayla Lynn.

It is with my complete pleasure that I bring to you the SECOND treasure of the day from the archives, Marty's old laminated paycheck:

What an exciting find for you Loretta! I did know that Crystal Gayle was her sister but didn't know about Lala Lynn. It is good you didn't know either because I'm afraid Sophie might have been named Lala!
