Day of the Dead, or I guess we're just thirsty

Inspired by Jenine's family, we decided to do a little Day of the Dead celebrating around here.  We love to borrow customs from other cultures, even though we take a lot of liberties with the traditions.  We didn't do anything as ambitious as making sugar skulls, mostly just coloring decorated skulls and cutting out skeletons.  To be honest, Martin was the only one really into the skeleton cutting, and that was only because he liked to act out his own pain as he cut into each bone.  Cutting around the leg bones, he mysteriously had severe leg pain.  Cutting out the fingers, his own hands ceased to work.

Sophie's participation consisted of drinking Mexican fruit punch which turned her lips and diapers red, which of course, was alarming to me until I realized the source.

I liked the Mexican mineral water, which tasted like any old mineral water, but came in this very cool bottle.

My only other activity for Day of the Dead consisted of showing them the Day of the Dead-style skeleton bride trivet that I received from Jenine when I got married.  I love it, but it turns out that playing with a trivet isn't a very fun activity for preschoolers.  Shocking, I know.
