A quiet night, save the laughter

Since we moved away from Minneapolis five years ago, our lives have changed greatly.  At first it was because we were out of the city, adjusting to a life with less restaurants and shopping, but enjoying the slower pace of life and widely available good parking spaces.  Then Martin arrived and it changed again, our home becoming our hub, the center of all activity, seeing mostly each other and whomever came to visit.  The look of our home changed with the arrival of Sophie and as Martin's activity increased.  Surfaces became bare as I moved treasures and fragile things and anything with dirt or water to high places or into storage.  In short, it became a household with small children.

Last night I went into Minneapolis to get together with some friends for wine and good food.  When I walked into Geordie's apartment, it felt like a sanctuary.  Art and fresh flowers and delicate things.  A place that adults go.  And it was terrific.

It was 12 years ago that we all became friends, and although we don't see each other very often, it's still just as easy to laugh and share stories and talk about our lives.

My friends - the recruiter, the chef, the photographer.  All smart and funny and lovely.

ahhhhhhhhhhh, the adult sanctuary with friends. Always so fun and a reminder of what you were at one time! Now you are an incredible Momma and wife with new fragile and treasured things - Sophie and Martin.
