Ansel Nelson, v.2
Martin loves to use my camera. Sometimes, I don't even know he's been using it until I download the pictures and find 20-30 shots all taken from about 3 feet off the ground. Many of the shots are of our kitchen cupboard, the floor, his toys. Last weekend the kids and I went for a long walk along the river, hoping to get some good shots of the construction vehicles that have ripped up the road that provides our easy access to the rest of the town. I was able to take a few photos before Martin commandeered my camera.
It was on this walk that he realized that he could capture the image of his shadow. "It's me, and I'm takin' a picture of me. AND my feet." he explained.
Without knowing anything about framing an interesting shot, or capturing details in shadow, or finding the action, or telling a story through an image - I think he's done it all here, by accident or by instinct.
This shot, taken by me was staged by Martin. "Take one of me," he said, then quickly dropped to the ground to pose.
