Baby's got black eyes

Last weekend we went to the baptism for my cousin Mary's daughter Anna.  The kids and I got all dressed up, Martin wearing a nice shirt and shorts, Sophie in a lovely white dress.  Here they are, playing with my cousin Mary's son Alex.  Don't all the kids look good here?  Well behaved, handsome, pretty.

Sophie loves to accessories, and for this occasion, she chose a black eye:

We're not exactly sure how it happened.  When she woke up, she was fine.  Then, a few hours later I noticed that her eye looked a bit red.  When I asked her about it, she just said "I poked it" and that was it.  No crying, no other explanation.

It actually doesn't look as bad in this photo as it did throughout the week.  It progressed from some redness, to purple, to green and yellow, to a sort of blackish brown.  Now, it looks like she's been staying up a lot of late nights with only one eye open.  Which might actually be the case.
