Springtime makes me blind
I know I'm weird this way, but I prefer cloudy days. I like it when it's overcast and I don't feel the desperate need to close my eyes or take a nap just to block out the sun. I prefer shade and I like dimly lit rooms. So the transition from muted Winter sun to piercing Springtime sun is hard for me, and it's making me feel blind. And with the loss of my prescription sunglasses, I'm tempted to make an appointment for Botox to ward off the development of a pug-like forehead produced by all the squinting. I can't look up because the sun is too bright. I can't look down because the reflection of the sun off of my pasty white legs creates a glare that is even more blinding than the sun.
I need to ease out of pants and long sleeved shirts and into shorts and t-shirts. I need to put away my fleece-lined shoes and dig out the flip flops. And I must find the sunscreen, because I've been known to get a burn from just minutes of exposure (like that one time I got a one inch wide sunburn on my wrists from the gap that was created between my mittens and my shirtsleeve while sitting in the park in April).

And I've got to make the move quickly. The kids are itching to be outside. They want to bike and rake and dig and get muddy. Sophie is wearing Martin's old bug boots all day long, inside and outside. The last of our snow has finally melted and it was in the 70's yesterday. Spring is here, I just hope I can see it without going blind.

The Botox comment made me laugh. For friends that have so many good times together we sure have opposite weather preferences! I am just coming out of hybernation and cloudy days bring me a headache!
