I love watching the Academy Awards.  I love trying to figure out who to root for, I love the hoopla of a big event, and I REALLY love watching to see who looks lovely and knowing in advance who is going to end up on Go Fug Yourself [note: the Fug Girls are going to do "running snarky commentary" on a live blog]

I try to see as many of the nominated films as I can before the event so that I feel like I can be a really "informed viewer".  This year, I didn't get to see as many of the films as I'd like, but I did catch a few. 

My approach to Oscar picks is much like my football picks method - if I know anything about it I can make an informed decision, otherwise it might be because I like somebody in it, I read the book and liked it, or I thought the trailer looked good.  Very rarely do I pick a winner just because I think it might actually BE the winner, it's usually a little less scientific than that.  This year, I didn't make a tracking spreadsheet because unlike last year, this time I'll be watching it with the kids.  That means, I might not get to watch more than one minute, and really, who likes an inaccurate spreadsheet tracking more than me?

This time, I'm just printing out a ballot from here and keeping track the best I can.  I'm going to do two sets of picks - those I actually WANT to win, and the ones I think WILL win.

- Worst Outfit Ever
