Self-reliance

Getting Martin used to using the toilet and out of diapers has taken us a really long time.  My guess is that we let the use of pull-ups go on too long, not really forcing him to use the toilet and instead opting for convenience for ourselves.  He's come a long way, and can make it through the whole day (including naptime) without diapers.  Most of the time he just goes to the bathroom when he needs to without anyone asking him.  But in the morning, I feel like I need to ask him just to remind his mind that he's a guy who uses the toilet.  Here's how our conversation went this morning:

Me: Martin, do you need to go to the bathroom?
Martin: Why don't you just worry about yourself, huh?

Instead of saying "Because I'm your momma" or "I haven't been able to just worry about myself since the day I found out I was pregnant" or simply "I wish", I just said "Oh, okay.  Why don't you just use the toilet."
