Too much, too fast
Tonight while we were eating dinner Sophie screamed. I looked over and she was grabbing her forehead, head tossed back in pain. I thought she had stabbed herself in the head with her child-safety fork. Examining her for damage, I found nothing.
"What's wrong? Are you hurt?"
"Hurt!" she said. "Cold! No ice!"

Poor, sensitive girl. First ice cream headache. I told her the only thing you can do is smack your hand to your forehead and moan, waiting for it to go away. She put her hand in her mouth and tried to clean off her tongue until it passed. Then, like the brave girl she is, she slowly finished off her ice cream.
Sidenote: Yes, she is wearing her new favorite pajamas while she eats dinner. Over her clothes. Of course, she got a lot of ice cream on the new jammies. So now she's wearing them to bed. Still covered in ice cream.

Andra has these jammies in plain red flannel. My favorite photo of her in them is with her hand in the liquor cabinet with a whole handful of tissues she pulled out of the box while I was clearly not supervising her. See? What a great momma you are. You are CLEARLY supervising her (you were taking the picture, weren't you?)

Ah yes, the univeral sign for brain freeze. Did you know that if you push your tongue to the roof of your mouth, brain freeze goes away? Try it. It's true. And believe it or not, my kids all had the push-your-tongue-to-the-roof-of-your-mouth trick mastered by age 3.
She's adorable, by the way.
