Martin: Momma, I need a screwdriver.
Me: What for?
Martin: I'm going to take apart the refrigerator.
Me: No.
Martin: Ok, then can I take apart the closet?
Me: No.
Martin: How about the door?
Me: No.
Martin: Well, what can I take apart?
Me: Nothing.
Martin: Awwww. I can't do anything! You're ruining my life.

Here's what I did with Joe under similar circumstances. I gave him a screwdriver and told him I needed the screws in our dining room chairs to be tightened. He got to work tightening screws and peace reigned.

That's an excellent idea. I suggested that we set up a repair shop for his trucks and that he get to work "fixing" them. That worked for awhile, but this is an even better idea.
