Ready for school
This morning Martin had an appointment for his Kindergarten pre-screening. We talked about it all morning and I explained that they would check his hearing, his eyes, and play with him for awhile. As our departure time approached, he became more excited and maybe a little confused. Here's the play-by-play:
Martin: Mom, can I bring this ball?
Me: Sure, you can bring it in the car.
Martin runs away at top speed.
Martin: Mom, where's my backpack?
Me: Did you check in your toybox?
Martin: No, I need you to find it. Fast!
Martin turns on his heels and runs out of the room.
Martin: Mom, how many minutes until the school bus is here?
Me: Martin, we're not taking the bus. We're going in the car.
Martin frowns and marches out.
That's when I figured out that he thought this was going to be the FIRST DAY of Kindergarten, not the pre-screening that will allow him to start school in just less than two years. He was so bummed. And I was so glad that there's still a little time before we hit that milestone.
