Good evening, Mrs. President
Well, actually... it's "Good evening, Mrs. President-elect". This isn't any sort of political welcome, but a celebration as my official transformation from "the Jennie-you-know-and-love" to "the wife". Not just any wife, but the wife of an elected official. The President-elect of the Information Technology Committee of the American Feed Industry Association. I know it's a little intimidating, but really it's still just us.
Right now Marty is getting ready to head to his first official meeting as the President-elect. I'm going to spend this time getting ready to go to my first meet-and-greet social. From my keen observations in the hotel lobby, it looks to me like I might be the youngest person in attendance... and also the only woman. I thought this was the kind of thing where other spouses (read: wives) would be in attendance, but it looks like this boys club might have left the other ladies behind. Maybe I better spend some of this time brushing up on my agricultural and feed industry terminology.
Tomorrow I'm attending the following conferences:
1. Traceability, Technology and the Supply Chain
2. Track & Trace: RFID
3. Homeland Security and Traceabilty - this one given by someone from the Department of Homeland Security.
Me, livestock feed and homeland security. I know, isn't that funny?

Hail to the first lady!

Now you'll have to come up with an appropriate first lady platform. How about, "Just Say No to Bovine Hormones."

No funnier than being "Mrs.President" at cemetery or monument conventions!
