New levels of understanding
Martin is starting to have a greater understanding of the world around him, and it's amazing to see how his mind is developing. He sees things, and now he's connecting those things with thoughts. Starting to understand how they might apply to his life. Three examples come to mind from things he saw on TV this week, providing further evidence that television is educational:
1) After seeing a Pantene commercial, he asked me if I had damaged hair. Very astute that he would notice it IS time for a deep conditioning. And kind of him to think of my general well-being.
2) He saw Floam, and said that he could make me something really COOL for my birthday. Nice tie in here, to say that he needed it to make something for his mother. Who can deny a child the right to create for his mother. Especially, as previously stated, September is for me.
3) He saw a kidfomercial for The Original Chocolate Factory.
Knowing I would refuse a pot of chocolate, he suggested that it would be very useful for breakfast. He could put toast in it, or pop tarts he offered. Yes, I thought. Pop tarts dipped in chocolate might be delicious. Might as well fill his sippy cup with mountain dew to wash that down. Then call a sitter, because I don't think I should be here when that tornado of sugary energy begins to spin.

I think Floam commercials are seriously damaging. I have waged a several year battle NOT to buy Floam. But Grace is sure I need a little Proactiv and that spotted shirt could definately use some Oxiclean. Thank goodness that TV commercials mean I don't have to be the only problem solver in the family. It gives kids more resources, right?
