Runaway momma

I'm leaving this morning for a weekend away with my friend, Kathy.  It's been almost two years since the last time I went anywhere for more than a few hours without a spouse or children.  And even though I'll miss my family... I CAN'T WAIT.  I've been preparing a packing list in my head for weeks.  I've been stockpiling wine and snacks.  If I have time, I might even paint my toes.

Preparing for a trip without Marty or the kids makes me feel like the lightest traveller in the world.  I don't have to take most of the things I normally pack when we go out of town.  Sippy cups?  No, thanks.  Suitcases for four?  Not this time.  Diapers?  Probably not needed, but maybe I should bring some in case Kathy and I get to talking and drinking wine and can't be bothered to get up to use the bathroom.

The last time Kathy and I got together for more than a few hours was probably almost six years ago (is that even right?).  That time, we were in Bismarck and joined by Sevda.  Here we are on the windy North Dakotan prairie.

Since Sevda now lives in London, she won't be able to join us this time.  Maybe we'll just pour a glass of wine for her and take turns drinking it in her place.

Party like it was 1999, since that seems like the last time you were out. I am right there with you! Enjoy, I have such a blast on girls nights out. Can't wait to hear all about it.
