Today is Marty's birthday.  Old Man Nelson turns 37.  Does this make him feel old?  I don't know, but what it means to me is that my husband is practically 40.  I remember when my parents were 40, and they were OLD.

Marty is really hard to buy gifts for because the only things he really wants are all $10,000 or more.  This year, he offered to pick out his own gift and I was happy to oblige since it meant not having to return the gift then hear about how he didn't get anything for his birthday.  He chose the perfect gift for an old man - a new electric, self-cleaning razor.  No returns necessary and it will last well past the next age milestone.

No longer able to wait, Martin gave Marty his birthday card last night.  Marty was in the basement, so he opened the envelope himself, pulled out the card and yelled "Daddy, come here.  I have your birthday card.  It has a monkey.  And a guitar.  A MONKEY AND A GUITAR!"  Obviously a card he picked out himself.

Happy birthday, Marty.  May we celebrate many, many more together.
