Molly mixup
For the past week or so, I've been telling the kids that our friend Molly is coming to visit. Martin was so excited and had all kinds of ideas of the things we would do when she arrived. It was only after a few days that I realized that Martin thought that Molly (Ryan and Carrie's dog) was the one coming to visit, not our friend Molly who is ACTUALLY coming to town. Here are some of the conversations we've had on the subject:
Martin: Molly coming this weekend?
Me: Yes, she'll be here on Saturday.
Martin: Uncle Ryan and Aunt Carrie coming?
Me: No, just Molly.
Martin: She can drive? She has to wear a seat belt.
Martin: Let's go to Wal-Mart.
Me: Why? What do you need?
Martin: We could get dog biscuits.
Me: Why do you need dog biscuits?
Martin: Molly's coming, she LOVES dog biscuits.
Martin: I need a bowl for the porch.
Me: OK, what size?
Martin: Big one, and lots of water.
Me: What are you doing?
Martin: Molly needs some water.
Martin: Molly coming today?
Me: Yes, she'll be here later today.
Martin: She can stay in my room.
Me: That's nice, but maybe she'll want to stay in the guest room.
Martin: She can play with my toys, she can chew them, I don't care.
Me: Martin, it's Molly LOOMIS not Molly the dog who is coming.
Martin: Lolly Moomy, she's a good dog. She likes to play with me.
I hope that when the REAL Molly shows up today he isn't too disappointed.

I am so glad that Martin thinks so highly of our dog, maybe someday we will send her for a visit, but she will have to ride with Toonces the Cat - Molly can't drive yet!
