I like American music

I believe that every holiday and special occasion deserves a mix tape/CD/playlist.  The Fourth of July is no exception, and a few years ago I made an official Nelson Family Fourth of July soundtrack.  This was before my foray into iTunes (from which I haven't turned back), and the rule at the time was that I could only pick songs that were found in our music collection.

Here's what's on the turntable this week:

Disc One
America - Neil Diamond
Allentown - Billy Joel
San Andreas Fault - Natalie Merchant
The Bluest Eyes In Texas - Restless Heart
Small Town - John Mellencamp
Angel of Harlem - U2
I've Been to Memphis - Lyle Lovett
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd
The City of New Orleans - Johnny Cash
California Dreamin' - The Mamas and The Papas
American Music - Violent Femmes
Dancing in the Street - Martha Reeves & The Vandellas
Daddy's Gone to Knoxville - Mark Knopfler
Leaving Las Vegas - Sheryl Crow
Streets of Philadelphia - Bruce Springsteen
The Gulf of Mexico - Shawn Mullins

Disc Two
America - Simon & Garfunkel
Dallas - Alan Jackson
Mississippi - Bob Dylan
Walking in Memphis - Marc Cohn
Carolina In My Mind - James Taylor
Callin' Baton Rouge - Garth Brooks
El Paso - Marty Robbins
Daytona - Chris Rea
Kansas City - Willie Nelson & Susan Tedeschi
Why Georgia - John Mayer
The Star Spangled Banner - U2
Nevada, California - The Jayhawks
Texas - Chris Rea
Rocky Mountain High - Mango Jam
Kentucky Woman - Neil Diamond
Hollywood - World Party
Do America - Mark Knopfler
Amarillo by Morning - George Strait
Small Town Saturday Night - Hal Ketchum
America the Beautiful - Charlie Rich

Any suggestions for Disc Three are welcome.  I'll let Accounting (Marty) know to expect a bill from iTunes.
