Buy art, it's good for you

Each year for our anniversary, Marty and I buy a piece of artwork to celebrate our love for each other (or making it one more year, whatever).  So when we were in Las Vegas, we kept our eyes open for some art we might want to buy.  We hit the jackpot at the House of Blues with a folk artist named JACK Poppitz.  His work is bright, fun, and fantastic.  Check out his cool portraits and his larger scale works, like the one where God casts the Devil out of Heaven which is really a stadium.

Unfortunately for us, once we decided to buy some of his work and went back to get it, it was already sold.  The good news is that we found JACK's website and have been in contact with his wife Kristine.  JACK painted a portrait of Johnny Cash for us, and it should arrive soon.

JACK recently completed a big project for the House of Blues, painting a car to be auctioned with the proceeds going to the House of Blues Foundation.  The car is up for auction on eBay for the next 9 days - be sure to check it out.  For more information on the car, go to fitinthehouse.com.

I LOVE the Flag! (on JACK's website) But Johnny Cash rocks too, I just hope I understand the painting, Jennie. Andra's favorite Cash song is A Boy Named Sue, which consequently was written by Shel Silverstein, who, you guessed it, was an ACCOUNTANT when he wasn't being brilliant. There is hope for me after all.

I also loved the flag - there was some really neat stuff on the links from that page too.

So cool. Eric and I recently bought one of our very first pieces of real art on a whim. We are so glad we did.

Will Johnny be as big as the stadium?
