Ruttger recap
The Ruttger Theme Song (not responsible for errors, see my notes in Italics)
There's a place we all know
There's a place we all go
It's Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge
The days full of sunshine (except during our visit)
The nights sweet and cool (definitely cool, like in the 30's at night)
It's the kind of a life that comes once so that you'll
Come again every year (Marty made comments about "annual event")
And meet those so dear
To play, swim or golf - rain or shine (thank god for the indoor pool)
When the time comes next year, we'll all see you here
At Ruttger's Bay Lake Lodge. (let's hope so).
We had a great time this weekend at Ruttger's. We had terrific food, played outside a little bit despite the rain, swam in the pool, and had a chance to visit with some good friends.

I'm convinced that buffets were invented for families with small children. Just minutes after this picture was taken, I noticed that Martin was using his corn dog stick to draw on the window with ketchup. "Just making art, momma," he said. [Note to Chris: Sorry about that]

We had a great time visiting with Molly and Linda Loomis. Sophie warmed up to them right away, sort of like I did when I first met them.

Martin and Molly bonded over discussions about rodeo and showed each other their longhorns.

On Sunday, we went out for brunch then took this picture right before packing up the car. I have 1000's of pictures of the kids sitting at the kitchen counter and only a handful from our fun weekend vacation. Figures. Right after this picture, Martin "lost" our room key in the wall heater. [Note to Chris: Sorry about that, too.]
Other than being there as a guest instead of an employee, things are much the same. The resort looks lovely - they've added an exercise room, a spa, a new store, coffee shop, and firepit patio... and it looks like they've lost about 10-15 feet of beach because the water is so much higher than when I worked there. Which was back in '92. Lord knows a lot can happen in that length of time. For those of you who worked there with me, you'll be glad to know that they still fold the napkins in the same old way. Let me know if you want to ever challenge me in a napkin folding contest - I can still do 9 in a minute.

did YOU really swim in the pool?

I really did. We put swim diapers on both kids and each took one around the pool. We floated, splashed and tried to avoid the "big kids" who were everywhere.

Jennie - you DO look great! I really like the rained-on look I was sporting on Sat night - it finally stopped raining on Sunday so we stayed an extra day and dinked around - wish you could have been there..and I did not have to wear a winter jacket - amazing. See you for Oktoberfest!
