Welcome to the jungle (gym)
After a year and a half in this house, the jungle gym is finally ready for action. This weekend, Marty did some repairs, added new equipment and put the final touches on the jungle gym. Check out the digs:

Here are Marty and Martin "workin" on the climber.

When Martin finally arrived at the top landing, he said "Oh man, there are a lot of sticks up here. I better clean it up."

Sophie is a little small for the climbing parts, but seems to be pretty entertained just climbing up the end of the slide and playing in the sand. So far.

We spent much of Saturday and most of Sunday in the sandbox. After each trip to the sandbox, the kids were so filthy they had to have baths. Which, of course, Martin didn't mind since it meant he got to change his clothes again. In fact, the only time we didn't have to argue about keeping his clothes on was while we were in the sandbox. Which is good - sand in your socks is a lot better than sand in your shorts when you've already removed the shorts. If you know what I mean.

Jennie,
That is such a great jungle gym. I'm very impressed. It's funny, Matthew and I were golfing last weekend in Faribault at a relatively new course w/ all new houses and everyone had these big elaborate jungle gym similar to what you have and we were commenting on how much fun they looked like. We were then saying how depressing it would be if a kid today had the old metal Swing Set like we grew up w/. The poor kid would be the laughing stock of the neighborhood. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago that we were kids, but it's amazing how much things have changed. Just another thing to make us feel old (like the 80's songs. I do the same thing w/ my sister-in-law who is 23. She looks at me like I'm crazy when I can't understand why she doesn't know all the lyrics to my favorite 80s tune).

Yea, Megan, we have one of those depressing swingsets. But its vintage - actually is the old metal Swing Set we grew up with (or someone did, but it was made in the 70s). Very unsafe, finger pinching opportunities galore, and they love it. Go figure.
By the way, where is the rest of sMarty (my oldest's pet name for Marty)? Either this is a good angle for him or he is missing some pounds?
