Bedtime blues

For the past few weeks, it's been really difficult to get Martin to go to bed.  No matter what time we start, it takes at least an hour from the time he hits the sack until he actually falls (and stays) asleep.  Sometimes he's thirsty and needs a drink of water, sometimes he's hot and has to take his clothes off, and sometimes he just wants to bring armloads of toys into bed.

Last night, after about 1/2 hour of reading, talking, coaxing and bribing I decided just to go to bed and hope for the best.  At 9:45, I heard a harmonica in the distance.  Realizing that it was coming from Martin's room, I went in there intending to use my most serious Grandpa Pat-style voice to tell him to go to bed.  When I opened the door, Martin said "You like that song?"  Tapping the bed next to him he said, "Sit down for a minute.  I'll play it for you."

He's got rhythm.  He's got music.  Who could ask for anything more?  Like sleep.

this confirms it. he's a genius. a true renaissance man. he's developing an excellent eye for composition with his photography, was "dockable" before he was even 2.5yrs old, makes very astute observations verbally (...heck, I notice things but can't articulate much of anything). Further, he is very handsome.
