St. Anthony of Padua, St. Patrick & Paddy Mitchell

Yesterday we celebrated St. Patrick's Day at the Padua Pub.  Normally, this is a big event in and of itself - the crowd, the parade, the green Grain Belt Premium on tap, the karaoke - and this is all before 2:00PM.  Here are Mom, Dad, Jennifer & Gary Hawkins as they staked out a prime parade viewing spot in front of the pub.

But, this year, there was a secret plot in the works.  Unbeknownst to my dad, a group of friends from Cold Spring (pictured below in all their green glory) joined the parade in a white cargo van.  As the van pulled up in front of dad, they jumped out and covered dad with spray string and adorned him with a smashing green hat and light-up feather boa (better hang onto this, Meghan may want to borrow it).

Me & Dad

When I left around 2:30PM, the pitchers of green beer were being replaced with better beer in bottles and drinks.  I'm assuming all went well, since no one called to have me come get them out of jail.  Although Bridget Faber is probably the child who lives the closest, so maybe I better check with her to see if she received the call.  Bridget, if you read this and my parents are in jail, please let me know.

I'm sorry I missed the rest of the party, but it's probably better that I left.  After all, who's parents really want their child to chaperone their party ALL NIGHT.

    Hey Jenny,

No calls from the local Stearns County jail on St. Patty's Day, it looks as if the leprechauns were looking after the crew that night! Now that the group is bound for Texas I'm, not sure who they will call.
Thanks for sharing the pictures of the group!
