Baby Face Nelson
Yesterday we celebrated Martin's birthday with Grandma Jane, Grandpa Pat and Grandma Lou. The menu featured a few of Martin's favorite things - hot dogs, baked beans, hot German potato salad, cole slaw, and of course... cake.

Here's Martin with a construction cake. I used a chocolate cake mix for the bottom layer. Then, I topped it off with a layer of chocolate soy pudding. To make the construction site, we crumbled up a bag of mini oreos and pressed them into the pudding to make gravel and topped it off with some of Martin's guys and their tools. I put all of it in a springform pan, then just took the sides off before serving. It was delicious, and non-dairy so Sophie could enjoy it as well.

Here's Sophie enjoying the cake. You can see Marty is just getting started, and my dad is already finished. He would win a pie eating contest - as long there was only one slice to eat.

Here's Martin handing out necklaces to his guests. He wanted construction hats AND necklaces. Seemed like a good and fashionable idea to me too.

Martin's ladies - momma, Grandma Jane, Sophie, and Grandma Lou

After the food and cake were cleared, Martin and Grandpa Pat snuggled up on the couch to watch a movie. Or, at least Martin watched the movie.
