I'm Seamus, when it comes to lovin' you

Three years ago today you came into our lives.  I picked St. Patrick's Day as your birthday hoping you would wait to arrive on that day.  It seemed like such a good idea considering our (distant) Irish heritage.  Plus, when you're older, everyone will be up for going out on your birthday.

I was so nervous as I waited for the delivery process to start.  I started crying, almost hyperventilating even, as I waited in the surgical room.  Then, all of a sudden, you were there.  You were small, handsome, and had lots of flowy hair.

Two years ago today you had your first birthday.  You seemed so grown up.  Already an expert with frosting, you tackled your cupcake with gusto.

Last year on this day you celebrated your birthday with your friends at daycare.  You ate your cupcake faster than anyone, asking for seconds before the last mouthful of cake was swallowed.

And today you are three.  Three whole years old and I can't even believe it.  You came into my room this morning around 5:15 and whispered in my ear, "Wake up momma, its a special day.  It's my birthday."  And, you're right, it's a very special day.  I just wish it could have started a little closer to 6:00AM.

Happy birthday, Martin.  I love you.

Happy Birthday Martin! It was so good to see you last weekend. I wish Matthew and I were able to come to your birthday party, it sounds like so much fun! I told Matthew about the construction site cake and getting to wear hard hats and he was very jealous we would be missing it. Have a great day! Love, Meggie
