Special dispensation
I saw on the news this morning that Archbishop Flynn has granted a special dispensation for Catholics who wish to celebrate St. Patrick's Day by eating meat, even though it falls on a Friday during Lent. This bit of news raised a lot of questions in my mind:
1. So, what does that mean for Catholics who live in another diocese? Specifically, what about me?
2. Do you have to eat an Irish meal to qualify for the dispensation? For example, if I make pizza with sausage, is that OK?
3. The biggest question, why am I so worried about eating meat on a Friday during Lent when I don't even attend mass regularly? You know the answer to this - it's because I'm Catholic, and that's all that needs to be said.

The Irish bishop in the St. Cloud Diocese(John Kinney) wants to eat meat on St. Pat's, so we are good to go here also!

Those Catholics are so darn progressive. Meat on a Friday. WOW. That's just crazy. Next thing you know the bishop will be endorsing polygamy. That's what happen when you open the door to meat. On Fridays.
