Little Prince (Nelson)
In the book The Little Prince, the pilot as a little boy created a drawing which looks like this:

He would ask people if they were frightened by his drawing. Most people said "why would I be afraid of a hat?" The pilot was very disappointed because it wasn't a hat, it was a boa constrictor eating an elephant. He felt sad that the grownups had to have everything explained to them. He said, "Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them."
This week, Martin and I were drawing and I was showing him how to spell his name. I drew a few "m's" and asked if he could draw some too. He said "sure" then looked at my piece of paper.

Martin looked at me and said, "that's not an M, that's a hat" and drew a line underneath. "Momma, make more hats," he said.
I bet he'd see the elephant and the boa constrictor, too. I'm so glad he's not a grown-up yet.
